Why I came to UAB?
I knew that UAB, a health system with a world-class reputation, would be a place where I would learn how to care for patients by the examples of excellent pharmacy practitioners.
One thing I would tell a pharmacist interested in UAB
If you want to be valued and respected for your contribution as a pharmacist and challenged to use your clinical skills in a fast-paced, patient-centered, teaching institution, you should check out UAB hospital.
What are some characteristics of a UAB Pharmacy resident?
UAB pharmacy residents are enthusiastic about learning, devoted to improving the medication use process, and committed to personal and professional growth. They must be willing to step out of their comfort zones in order to grow as practitioners and be able to go the extra mile to provide excellent patient care.
What has surprised you the most about the support you've received as a Pharmacy resident?
During my interview at UAB Hospital, before I even knew I would be working here, I was impressed by the support from the entire staff of the pharmacy residency program. Now that I am here, it is apparent to me that the pharmacists and technicians sincerely desire to see me succeed in this program. Most of all, as I work alongside other practitioners, I am not viewed merely as a resident, but rather as a fellow pharmacist and a vital part of the healthcare team.
Why stay here in Birmingham?
Birmingham is a very unique city because it has big city offerings while still possessing Southern charm and hospitality. There are several state parks within 10-minute to 1 ½- hour drive. Shopping is abundant and accessible, restaurants are plentiful, and housing is affordable.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Northern Africa and to the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. It would be incredible to see the places where human civilization began and where Christianity has its roots.

Anything outside...probably bugs.
