Residency Training at UAB
The ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program at UAB Hospital began in 1970 and has the distinction of being one of the country's first. We are committed to providing the resident with real-world experience in an environment that is both stimulating and challenging.
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is a one-year program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program provides a structured learning environment for the resident to gain exposure to all aspects of pharmacy practice, while allowing ample flexibility for the resident to pursue subjects of personal interest.
PGY2 Residency in Critical Care
The PGY2 Residency in Critical Care is a one-year program designed to provide extensive experience in a variety of intensive care units. This experience will expand on skills developed during a post graduate year one residency and build the skills and confidence necessary to provide advanced pharmacologic services in acute care situations.
PGY2 Residency in Oncology
The PGY2 Residency in Oncology is a one year program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) that is designed to provide extensive experience in the treatment of a variety of oncologic and hematologic disorders. This experience will expand on skills developed during a post graduate year one residency and build the skills and confidence needed to provide specialized care to cancer patients.
